Blackheads are like little plugs of sebum. They give the skin a rough appearance, but can also affect skin radiance by preventing cell renewal.

Pores serve to evacuate sebum, sweat and dead cells, but when clogged, they can dilate to allow excess sebum to drain away, making them visible.
